In my poverty I would like to buy a wrecked 997 and fix the bodywork and drive it forever. Leave it all crappy and mismatched bodywork and I wouldn’t even care. Black hood blue fender? meh. Racecar.

hopefully its all bodywork because I can do that. I could fix mechanical bits but that would probably bankrupt me.

NP or Crackpipe?

For more saved money, sell the wheels and replace them with steelies.

There was a really cheap hail-damaged 996 for sale in NJ for a while, can’t find it now. I would search for a salvaged 911 with ‘hail’ in the description.

It would look like a golf ball, but drive like a 911. Just watch the high speed aero effect.

I like the that idea, a ratty but sorted 911 is ideal.

I would rather buy a decent 996 than try to salvage a 997

Have them throw in some used headlights and some hood(trunk)-pins and we’ve got a deal.

Vinyl wrap, man. Real race cars are still all one color.

I got to say CP. Factor in that it will always be known as a wrecked car, there is very likely more severe structural damage underneath. The repair costs. I’ve seen very nice examples of the less desirable 996's in the price range. Yes the 997 is both more desirable, and a newer car, but they need to drop that price.

I'm also curious if someone has started to repair it, I can't imagine that the panels looked like that after the wreck. Makes me think someone found something big, and just wants to put it behind them and walk away. I would assume the worst on everything until you can personally verify it's condition. i.e. is it driveable, so you can verify it is mechanically sound? if not assume it has major issues there too. If it can't be started assume it needs a new motor, possibly transmission as well.

yeah not the best deal but it is a 4 but I would only go for one that was intact mechanically.
